Farmer - Senior Partner
Mr. Farmer began his legal career in 1974 in Sacramento with
the defense firm of Fitzwilliams, Memering, Stumbos & Demers. In
1975, he joined the Sacramento defense firm of Bolling, Pothoven,
Walter & Gawthrop, later becoming Bolling, Walter & Gawthrop.
He was a partner in that firm from 1978 to 1994, focusing on insurance
law-related litigation and counseling.

Blane A. Smith -
Senior Partner
Mr. Smith began the practice of law in 1980 and has devoted his
career to the specialty of insurance law. His work includes consultation
and litigation related to the duties of insurers to their insureds
and bad faith claims. After eight years as a partner in the firm
of Thompson Heller, he became a partner in Farmer Murphy Smith & Alliston
in 1996 and founded Farmer Smith & Lane, LLP along with Craig
Farmer in 2007.

Lane - Senior Partner
For more than 25 years, Mr. Lane has focused his practice on
complex first party property and primary and excess liability
insurance coverage disputes. In this context, he routinely consults

intellectual property, environmental and employee welfare benefits

Prior to joining Farmer Smith & Lane, LLP, Mr. Salazar served as
a judicial extern to Associate Justice M. Kathleen Butz at the California
Court of Appeal, Third District in Sacramento, California. He also
served as a legal intern for the Sacramento County District Attorney’s
office.

John Hall
- Associate
Before joining Farmer Smith & Lane, LLP, Mr. Hall practiced
for two years at a small criminal defense firm in Sacramento, CA.
He has made court appearances in many of the counties of Northern
California on a variety of subjects ranging from criminal defense
to family law. Working closely with Mr. Farmer and Mr. Smith, Mr.
Hall’s practice now emphasizes civil litigation as well as
coverage analysis and consultation for Joint Powers Authorities
throughout California.

served as a judicial extern under Presiding Justice Arthur Scotland
